Circle of Hope Community Center Volunteer Spotlights

Kim Cox

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT - January 2024

"From the volunteers and staff, to the people who are served, I love being a part of this community, and the mission to provide food, resources and hope to our neighbors in need. " - Kim Cox

Kim is one of our dedicated volunteers working mainly with distribution - filling boxes, loading neighbors cars, setting up stations and helping new volunteers understand the process. She has been described as a "real cracker jack", as well as "one of the nicest people you could meet." Kim was born and raised in Texas, spending her childhood in various cities throughout the state. After settling in the Dallas area, she received her degree in IT at the University of Texas Dallas. She began her career in 1980 as a computer programmer when computers barely fit into a room, let alone your pocket. In 2022 she retired to the Pflugerville area to be near her two sisters, one in Georgetown and one in Temple, and with no other retirement plans.

She and Gracie, her gorgeous four legged baby, enjoy long walks, cuddling on the couch and watching baseball and football together. As enjoyable as that is, she soon realized being part of a community was necessary. She worked for the Ronald McDonald house in Kansas City for a couple of years and appreciated the experiences and people she met, as well as the new perspective on priorities that it gave her. So she began looking for opportunities to give back. After searching for an organization that "fit," she chose to volunteer at Circle of Hope Community Center.Thank you, Kim, for being a dedicated member of the Circle of Hope family!
